JUST AN IDEA - STÉPHANE MANEL
Exhibition Opening / Book Launch
June 25, 2026
6 PM - 8 PM
To mark the book's release, the bookshop space will host an exhibition of the original drawings from June 20 to July 5, 2026.
French illustrator and author Stéphane Manel transforms a daily diary into a vast human fresco. Artists, writers and other heroes – living and dead – haunt its pages, from Baudelaire to Billie Eilish, Cocteau to Snoopy, in a constellation of lives that serves as a meditation on time, memory and art.
Stéphane Manel is an author and illustrator. He has created and illustrated several graphic novels published by Éditions Seghers: Du côté de Paris (2025), Exercices de Staël (2024), Bacon, éclats d’une vie (2023) and Monsieur Proust (2022). He has also published the personal works Memory Lines (2019) and All the Things You Are (2020), as well as Les dictateurs font très bien l’amour (Nil, 2010), with Matthias Debureaux, and Les élucubrations d’un homme soudain frappé par la grâce (Seuil, 2021), with Édouard Baer. Stéphane Manel has also designed numerous record sleeves, title sequences and film posters, and regularly contributes to the press.
