C&K – Cobra & Ken Kagami - 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025
Artists Ken Kagami and Cobra are based in Tokyo; Kagami and Cobra work in a variety of media including but not limited to film, photography, painting, sculpture and performance. While each artist has a distinct practice, a common link between the two is an interest in scatological humor and the theoretical work and writings of Milwaukee-based artist, David Robbins. C&K is a collaborative artist unit; the present book documents 4 years of an ongoing project which C&K have realized in collaboration with the Otsuka (Tokyo) based commercial gallery, Misako & Rosen. Each year, since 2022, C&K have produced a series of photographs at the classic photo studio, Marubell-do, Asakusa; one of these photographs is used for the gallery New Year card; others to create objects further promoting the practice of C&K—tea cups, calendars, key chains, etc… While cataloging this practice, this catalogue simultaneously joins the growing inventory of C&K goods.
